Month: February 2004

  • I just remembered something about the annoying Russian guy again. He once said to me that the Chinese language is stupid. I tried to explain to him that Chinese is an easy language and that it even has a much more compact form to allow VERY effective communication; but he wouldn’t listen. I guess he has a death wish, and a very painful one at that, like getting trampled to death by about 2 billion enraged Chinese.

My words of advice: shut up, furk off, and learn some facts before you open your mouth again.

  • Congrats to Tissot, Dep server’s no.1 crazy mage, who can go around TOI and turn undead the Elmores up there. He made lvl 58 today or yesterday (I just checked LinWeb).

  • My friends and I just setup a Windows 2003 Server yesterday, for a school project. It turns out that it’s got nice setup wizards to customize your server for its intended purpose. It runs pretty ok even on a Duron with 256 MB RAM. So far so good. We had a slight BSOD problem with the 8$ network card that we got but that’s it.

The project is aboot setting up an electronic voting system, from the ground up – gathering requirements, design documentation, use case diagrams, sequence diagrams, bla bla bla. Anyway, it will support systematic management of voting rights by groups, proposal of new polls, vote forging, etc.

Just kidding about the vote forging part.

  • My friend wants me to start a dark elf… I don’t feel like to. :/ I really want to get my mage to dk first, but that’s gonna take a long time, I know that.

  • I forgot to blog about this Russian guy 2 days ago. Anyway, he’s being annoying again. He sat at the front of the class and pretended to be useful, asking questions without really knowing what the hell he is talking about. I pity for the teacher for having to deal with him…

Actually, I suspect that this Russian guy is hitting on our teacher… Or maybe it’s just one of my caffein-less-morning imagination.

On another note, the succubus and minotaur polymorphs really rock. They combine the hit speed of spartoi and skeletons and the cast speed of the ncromancers. Truly awesome polymorphs for lvl 15 to 49 mages.

  • One thing I learned this evening: NEVER EVER install or update Lineage while running Windows XP in Chinese mode. It will download crap from the Asia servers and leave you to rot in complete oblivion while you try to figure out what the fuck went wrong and reinstall like a million times.

  • Leveling a lvl 49 mage is a real pain. You can work the whole day and get no more than 2% nowadays, particularly with all the other mages and elves crowding Oren Wasteland. Making money, on the other hand, proves quite easy, once again; or maybe it’s just my luck. I went to DI and BOOM! I got the wind boss with a pledge mate, then 2 ndai in less than an hour. DI rocks.

  • I think I can level up today. Help would be appreciated to make the final 3%.

  • Ok, more ranting about school. Let’s begin.

    FUCK RATIONAL

Rational Rose is pissing me off. For those of you who don’t know Rational Rose: it is basically a program used in computer science or software engineering for drawing nice diagrams for software projects. For example, fancy graphs called Use Case diagrams and sequence diagrams. Our teacher and tutor have been nerfing us to use this supposedly excellent software to create diagrams in our Software Process course.

My impression of Rational Rose after half an hour of usage is this is absolutely the most fucking retarded piece of shit that I have seen any big software company put out. Seriously, it’s even worse than Microsoft Window 98 or Microsoft Office 97.

    1. Inconsistent controls

Why is it easy to find the controls for creating a Use Case diagram while I have to fucking go through a software labyrinth to make a Sequence diagram? Both diagram types are basic UML stuff. It will be a cold day in hell before I believe the guy who designed this knows shit about usability.

    2. Stupid behaviour

When I start a new diagram, it’s probably because I want to work on it immediately, right? So why the fuck does Rational Rose remain on the old diagram after I create a new one? I couldn’t find the controls for the Sequence diagram elements because of this. Again, go fuck yourself, whoever designed this behaviour.

Another thing, “Autosize all” from the “Format” menu doesn’t work. If it really autosizes correctly, why does my graph look different everytime I click on “Autosize all”?

    3. Incomplete and useless documentation.

If you actually wrote a page to explain what the sequence diagram does, you might as well tell me HOW to create a new sequence diagram, you stupid twat. BTW, if I actually used Rational Rose and wanted to create a Sequence diagram, doesn’t it imply that I KNOW what a Sequence diagram does? The user manual is supposed to tell me HOW to find the controls and use them, not to give me a theory course on UML.

I’m sorry, Rational Software, but Microsoft Visio 2003 actually beats you guys at usability this time around. You can now go back and eat shit.

    Peace out.
