Ok, more ranting about school. Let’s begin.

FUCK RATIONAL
Rational Rose is pissing me off. For those of you who don’t know Rational Rose: it is basically a program used in computer science or software engineering for drawing nice diagrams for software projects. For example, fancy graphs called Use Case diagrams and sequence diagrams. Our teacher and tutor have been nerfing us to use this supposedly excellent software to create diagrams in our Software Process course.
My impression of Rational Rose after half an hour of usage is this is absolutely the most fucking retarded piece of shit that I have seen any big software company put out. Seriously, it’s even worse than Microsoft Window 98 or Microsoft Office 97.
1. Inconsistent controls
Why is it easy to find the controls for creating a Use Case diagram while I have to fucking go through a software labyrinth to make a Sequence diagram? Both diagram types are basic UML stuff. It will be a cold day in hell before I believe the guy who designed this knows shit about usability.
2. Stupid behaviour
When I start a new diagram, it’s probably because I want to work on it immediately, right? So why the fuck does Rational Rose remain on the old diagram after I create a new one? I couldn’t find the controls for the Sequence diagram elements because of this. Again, go fuck yourself, whoever designed this behaviour.
Another thing, “Autosize all” from the “Format” menu doesn’t work. If it really autosizes correctly, why does my graph look different everytime I click on “Autosize all”?
3. Incomplete and useless documentation.
If you actually wrote a page to explain what the sequence diagram does, you might as well tell me HOW to create a new sequence diagram, you stupid twat. BTW, if I actually used Rational Rose and wanted to create a Sequence diagram, doesn’t it imply that I KNOW what a Sequence diagram does? The user manual is supposed to tell me HOW to find the controls and use them, not to give me a theory course on UML.
I’m sorry, Rational Software, but Microsoft Visio 2003 actually beats you guys at usability this time around. You can now go back and eat shit.
Peace out.
